House Vacancy – District 57

As announced by the media and email last night, Delegate Doug Skaff has resigned from his seat in the House of Delegates. Pursuant to W.Va. Code §3-10-5 – Vacancies in the State Legislature are filled by the Governor from a list of 3 names provided by the Party Executive Committee. The Kanawha County Democratic Committee will submit 3 names to the Governor. 1 of those will be appointed. State code allows for 15 days to complete this process. The Monthly Regular Meeting of the KCDEC is Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 6:00pm. The discussion for this vacancy has been added to the agenda.

October 2023 Regular Meeting

There will be a Regular Meeting of the KCDEC at 6:00pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Main Branch of the Kanawha County Public Library located at 123 Capitol St., Charleston, WV 25301, in
conference room 308/309. We will be placing the most recent vacancy on the agenda that has not been previously placed on the agenda – 4-F Male.

September Regular Meeting

There will be a Regular Meeting of the KCDEC at 6:00pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Main Branch of the Kanawha County Public Library located at 123 Capitol St., Charleston, WV 25301, in conference room 308/309.

Delegate Doug Skaff has resigned from the WV House of Delegates.
Pursuant to W.Va. Code §3-10-5 – Vacancies in the State Legislature are filled by the Governor from a list of 3 names provided by the Party Executive Committee.

The 8th Order of Business: New Business will be modified at the Tuesday, September 12, 2023 meeting. The modified 8th Order of Business will read:

8. To receive and act upon any new business
— Specific Business Includes a Discussion Concerning the Resignation of Delegate Doug Skaff and Submitting 3 Names to the Governor to Fill Said Vacancy.

This is a duly noticed regular meeting of the KCDEC and the unexpected resignation and short time-frame in which to act according to statute necessitates this modification of the agenda.

August Regular Meeting

This is to serve as notice that the Regular Meeting of the KCDEC will take place on the Second Tuesday of August – 08/08/2023 at 6:00pm.

At present, the meeting will be held via Zoom. Arrangements for a Hybrid Meeting are in the works and if that comes together the in-person location will be announced in the near future.
If a hybrid meeting room cannot be secured, this meeting will take place via Zoom only.
